Northern Velebit National Park
The stone towers of the Hajdučki and Rožanski kukovi
Northern Velebit is Croatia's youngest national park and one of the wildest landscapes in the Mediterranean. The bizarre stone towers of the Rožanski and Hajdučki kukovi, a strict nature reserve and the Premužić trail offer views of the Kvarner islands and the continental hinterland at the same time.
Things to do
- •The Premužić trail — one of Europe's finest mountain paths
- •Zavižan and its botanical garden overlooking the sea
- •Rožanski and Hajdučki kukovi (strict reserve)
- •Lukova jama and Velebit's karst phenomena
Getting there
The park is reached via Senj and the climb up to Zavižan, about 1 hour 45 minutes from Rijeka. In winter the Zavižan road is often closed, so we arrange transfers according to conditions on the day.
